One such local Association/Centre (NCW) was started in Shimla in 1932, by RajKumari Amrit Kaur who was a social reformer and a driving force ,envisioning an organized women’s movement in Himachal Pradesh. The Centre(NCW) is located at Rani Jhansi Park, The Mall, Shimla which is currently known for its commitment towards empowering females through skill training programmes
Even though the Central Govt.as well as Govt. of Himachal Pradesh have made considerable efforts to enhance the economic condition of women , there still continues to be a huge no. of women in need to prepare them as skilled force in the State of Himachal Pradesh.
It is with this knowledge that the vision of RajKumari Amrit Kaur was conceived way back to start one branch/Centre of NCWI in Shimla , Himachal Pradesh.
The Centre (NCW) is running very effectively and smoothly in Shimla since 1932 under the supervision of elected body of dedicated women of Shimla. The Centre is giving training to females across the Himachal Pradesh on very nominal fees in various skills such as sewing/stitching, beautician/ self-grooming .
